When should my submission due date be?
Quick answer:
We recommend setting your due date to 1 or 2 days before the day you plan on revealing the Group Video, if possible.
When starting your first Group Video, you are asked to select a Due Date (the date videos are due by). You may wonder: What date should I choose to ensure that your Group Video will be ready on time?
Here's what you need to know:
- The Group Video creation process is fully automated (no humans involved). It can be started at any time and takes between 10 minutes to 3 hours to complete (depending on the total duration of your Group Video). This has enabled some users to create and send surprises within a single day!
- Although video submissions are not accepted after your due date passes, remember that you can extend your due date and re-allow video submissions at any time, even after the due date has passed.
- How long the people you invite take to submit their videos is the most significant factor in how much time you'll need overall. While we do our best to help you encourage them (with a countdown timer), we have yet to find a full-proof solution to procrastination!
So, in general, we recommend starting by setting your due date to 1 or 2 days before the day you plan on revealing the surprise, if possible. This will give you time to remind the last few stragglers to submit their videos and also allow you to create the Group Video a few times, if needed, to include late video submissions or perhaps modify the order of the videos. If you don't have that much time, don't worry: some Group Videos have been started and completed within a matter of hours - make sure your invitees are ready and willing to record!
